OUR PURPOSE -
Why Family. Reimagined exists
Family separation is a major human transition—not simply a legal event.
Family.Reimagined was created from lived experience, community insight and research with Australian families. We are building a safer, clearer and more coordinated way through separation, so families can move forward with the right support, better communication and their children’s needs at the centre.
As a social enterprise, our longer-term goal is to make this kind of support accessible to every Australian family.
Our Story
Family.Reimagined began in July 2026, shaped by lived experience of separation, more than three years supporting the Self Represented in Family Law Australia community, and research involving 200 people who had experienced separation.
Across those experiences, the same problem kept appearing: families were expected to coordinate a complex emotional, parenting, financial and legal transition largely by themselves.
We also saw that separation can intensify difficult communication, financial pressure and controlling behaviour. Families need a process that supports safety, transparency and accountability while helping everyone move forward.
Family.Reimagined was created to offer a better way.
Vision & Values
Our vision is for every Australian family to have access to a safer, clearer and more human way through separation.
Our work is guided by six principles: families should feel supported, safe and informed, while the process remains child-focused, fair and transparent, and timely.
These principles shape how we communicate, share information, coordinate professionals and support decisions. We want families to understand what is happening, feel heard without judgement or gender bias, and know what needs to happen next. Above all, we want children and parents to emerge from separation with greater stability and a workable foundation for family life ahead.
