Chief Family Change Officer - Alexandra Gray

Alexandra Gray

Founder & Chief Family Change Officer

Alex is equal parts justice-seeker, problem solver and wellbeing enthusiast. Having experienced family separation both as a child and later as an adult, she saw first-hand how families are often left to navigate one of life's most significant transitions with little guidance, an unclear process and a system that can unintentionally increase stress, conflict and financial pressure. Rather than accepting that "this is just how separation works", she saw an opportunity to create something better — a service that combines practical support, clear pathways and genuine human care.

Alongside her corporate career in project delivery, business improvement and stakeholder engagement, Alex has spent many years exploring wellbeing, personal growth and complementary healing modalities. This unique combination of structure and empathy shapes her vision: bringing together the practical, emotional and human aspects of separation so families can move through change with greater clarity, support and dignity, while building healthier foundations for the next chapter of their lives.

Alex will continue to campaign for government and other funding sources so that every family separating today can utilise this service.

Meet Your Support Team Roles

Family Transition Coordinator

Your primary point of contact throughout the journey.

The Family Transition Coordinator guides the process from initial separation through to implementation and beyond. They coordinate your support team, monitor progress, help keep everyone accountable and ensure your family always knows what comes next.

Every family receives a tailored roadmap outlining:

  • Key stages of the process

  • Expected timeframes

  • Decision points

  • Practitioner involvement

  • Review periods

The roadmap can be accelerated, paused or extended depending on your family's needs and circumstances.

Family Redesign Specialist

Works with families to redesign parenting arrangements, routines and future family structures.

Rather than imposing standard solutions, they help parents explore practical options that support children's wellbeing while recognising the unique circumstances of each family.

Children's views, developmental needs and individual circumstances are considered in accordance with family law principles and age-appropriate practice.

Independent Legal Advisors

Each parent has access to their own independent legal advisor.

Legal advice is typically provided once financial matters, parenting arrangements and key issues have been substantially explored. This allows legal advice to be highly targeted, informed and cost-effective.

Legal advisors may assist with advice and the legal documentation for:

  • Parenting arrangements

  • Consent Orders

  • Property settlements

  • Financial agreements

  • Divorce applications

  • Legal rights and obligations

Typically, families require only a small number of hours of legal advice because much of the information gathering, planning and decision making has already occurred through the broader support process.

Financial Transition Specialist

Separation can create significant financial uncertainty. The Financial Transition Specialist helps families understand their current financial position, future needs and available options, enabling informed and practical decision-making.

Working with both parents, they gather and organise financial information, identify assets and liabilities, assess the affordability of living separately and develop a clear picture of what each household may require moving forward. They can assist with budgeting, cashflow planning, child support considerations, government benefits, housing options and identifying any financial shortfalls.

They also prepare financial schedules, balance sheets and supporting documentation that may be required by legal advisors or the Family Court, helping to reduce duplication, delays and unnecessary legal costs. Their role is to replace uncertainty with clarity, helping families build financially sustainable futures and move into their next chapter with confidence.

Wellbeing Practitioner

Provides emotional support, resilience building and practical guidance for adult family members.

Separation can be one of the most difficult periods in a person's life. This role helps individuals manage stress, grief, uncertainty and major life changes while connecting them with appropriate community, social and therapeutic supports.

Because wellbeing underpins every aspect of healthy decision making, this is expected to be one of the most heavily utilised services within the program.

Government subsidies, Medicare rebates and private health fund benefits may be available in some circumstances, reducing the overall cost to families.

Child Wellbeing Specialist

Ensures children's wellbeing, needs and perspectives remain central throughout the process.

Provides age-appropriate support, guidance and advocacy to help children navigate the transition and ensure their voices are appropriately heard.

Family Decision Facilitator

Helps families navigate difficult decisions, understand different perspectives, identify options and move forward when challenges arise.

The focus is on informed decision making, creative problem solving and practical outcomes rather than adversarial negotiation.

Where decisions cannot be reached within agreed timeframes, an independent Arbitrator may be engaged to consider all perspectives and make a determination within the agreed scope of authority.
